About Callum Branch

Callum is 7 years old and has cerebral palsy. Callum had a tough start to life, he was born 14 weeks premature and was very lucky to have survived his first night. He proved us and the doctors all wrong and pulled through and after spending 11 weeks in hospital he was allowed to come home.

Callum is such a bright and happy boy the only thing that stops him from leading a normal life is his legs and the fact that he's in a wheelchair. Callum has been accepted to have an operation in the St Louis Children's Hospital in America, called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy. The operation has a really good success rate and we have been advised by the surgeon in America that his sitting, standing, walking and level of comfort will improve and with a lot of hard work on Callum's part he could have a chance to walk independently, this would be a life changing operation for him.

We have worked really hard over the last few months trying to raise the money needed to take Callum over to America and with the help of facebook and the support of our wonderful family and friends, we have raised enough money now to pay for the surgery, our flights and accommodation for the month that we have to be over there. Any extra money that we raise now will go towards any treatment, equipment and the intense physiotherapy he is going to need on our return from St Louis. We also have to take Callum back a year later for a follow up appointment.
